
Mayor Akbul Mund presented the City of Vernon Director of Financial Services, Kevin Bertles, and his staff with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the City’s 2015 Financial Plan. Bertles also received the Certificate of Recognition for Budget Preparation. Both of the awards were presented on behalf of the Government Finance Officers Association.
“On behalf of Council, the administration and the staff of the City of Vernon, I am pleased to recognize and thank the Financial Services division for consistently raising the level of reporting on City financial matters,” said Mayor Mund. “This award represents the highest standards of financial reporting to our City Council and to the citizens of Vernon, and demonstrates our City’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency.
“We as a City have received this particular award as well as the award for our Annual Reports for a number of years. These measures and awards recognize that the City of Vernon is consistent in following best practices, even as reporting standards evolve. As the City is currently engaged in the process of preparing our 2016 Financial Plan, I am confident that this team will continue to meet and exceed these high standards.”
The City of Vernon has received this award three times.
