The City of Vernon invites residents to provide feedback on the new Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw 6200 at a Public Hearing on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall (3400-30th Street, Vernon).
The OCP is a long-term strategic document that guides how and where the City will grow, to accommodate an additional 20,000 residents and over 11,000 new housing units in the next 20 years. It provides direction for land use and development in Vernon, including housing, commercial, transportation, parks and trails, culture, and environmental protection. The broad vision of the OCP is implemented through supporting strategies, bylaws, and policies including the Zoning Bylaw.
This Public Hearing is an opportunity for residents to share their support or concerns with Council related to the new OCP as a whole, rather than individual development applications.
Council gave first and second reading to Official Community Plan Bylaw 6200, 2025 on October 14, 2025 — a key milestone in the OCP process. Following the Public Hearing, adoption of the bylaw is anticipated on December 15, 2025, to meet the required December 31, 2025, provincial deadline.
