The 2022 General Local Election is happening on Saturday, October 15, in communities across British Columbia. Eligible voters in Vernon will elect one (1) Mayor and six (6) City Councillors.
Nomination packages for potential candidates are now available for pick-up at City Hall and on the City’s website at www.vernon.ca/elections. Qualified candidates who are interested in running for office must submit their completed nomination package during the specified Nomination Period. Please see the dates below.
To be eligible to run as a candidate, at the time of nomination a person must meet the following criteria. You are:
- 18 years of age or older on the day of voting;
- a Canadian citizen;
- a resident of British Columbia for at least six months prior to voting day;
- not disqualified under the Local Government Act, or any other enactment, or by law from voting in a local election.
