News

The City of Vernon is disappointed to announce that our Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Peter Weeber, will be leaving to take on a new role as City Manager with the City of Delta.

“While it is disappointing to share that Peter is leaving, we are grateful for the strong, strategic, entrepreneurial leadership he brought to the City—paired with a productive sense of urgency that helped drive results,” said Mayor Victor Cumming. “His dedication to advancing key projects and enhancing how the City serves its residents has made a lasting impact. On behalf of Council, I want to thank him for his contributions and wish him continued success with the City of Delta.”

Mr. Weeber joined the City in November 2024 and has played a key leadership role over the past year, helping to advance Council’s strategic priorities and major community initiatives. His tenure saw meaningful progress on housing, sustainability, transportation, and livability, along with a renewed focus on organizational innovation, operational efficiency, and public engagement.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to have served this incredible community,” said Peter Weeber. “Over the past year, Vernon has made real strides—advancing long-term plans and delivering on issues that matter most to residents. The City of Vernon is powered by dedicated, forward-thinking professionals who care deeply about this community and its future. With a clear vision and a solid foundation, Vernon is well-equipped for continued growth and success.”

Mr. Weeber’s last day with the City of Vernon will be November 16, 2025. He will continue to support priority projects and key files, remaining involved through the completion of the 2026 budget process in early December. He will also provide ongoing support on select initiatives into the new year.

Recruitment for a new Chief Administrative Officer is now underway. Council is focused on identifying a CAO with the vision, experience, and operational pace required to advance the City’s strategic direction and deliver quality service to the community.
