In celebration of Earth Day, the City of Vernon is proud to launch the Trees for Tomorrow program—a community initiative that encourages residents to grow a greener future by planting trees on their own properties.

Starting today, Vernon residents can pick up a $75 tree voucher to use toward the purchase of a tree (or trees) at one of three local garden centres:

  • Nicholas Alexander Home & Garden
  • Swan Lake Market & Garden
  • The Flower Spot

Vouchers are available to City of Vernon residents, and limited to one per property. Vouchers can be picked up in person at the Community Services Building (3001 – 32 Avenue) starting on Earth Day, while supplies last. Please note: Vouchers are currently sold out. New vouchers will be available starting the week of May 5, 2025.

“This program is a simple but impactful way for our community to take part in local climate action and enhance our urban tree canopy,” said Kevin McCarty, Specialist, Climate Action. “We’re excited to launch it on Earth Day and encourage residents to help plant a more vibrant future for our community.”

Residents can also visit the City of Vernon booths at the Chamber Expo on Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Kal Tire Place North (3445 43rd Avenue). City staff will be onsite to share information about the Trees for Tomorrow program, other sustainability initiatives and ongoing municipal projects and services.
