Today, Premier David Eby issued a state of provincial emergency in B.C. as wildfire activity continues to intensify across the Southern Interior.
While the Bradley Creek wildfire currently poses no risk to the City of Vernon, the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) remains active, coordinating support for evacuees and working closely with emergency response partners across the region.
With hot and dry conditions expected throughout the weekend, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, as the risk of wildfire remains elevated throughout the region. Residents are reminded to stay informed through City of Vernon channels. To report a wildfire within Vernon, call 911.
Emergency accommodation available for evacuees
The City’s Emergency Support Services (ESS) Reception Centre at Kal Tire Place remains available to assist residents impacted by the wildfire. Group lodging is in place at the Curling Rink at the Recreation Centre for those who require temporary shelter.

- By phone through the BC Evacuee Helpline at 1-800-387-4258
- Online through the ESS self-registration portal
Evacuation Orders lifted in several areas
Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) lifted Evacuation Orders in several areas yesterday, allowing a number of residents to begin returning to their communities, including Desert Cove and areas along Antoine Road.
The City recognizes that many community members remain displaced and is dedicated to sharing timely, accurate information as conditions evolve.

Bald Range wildfire update
The Bald Range Wildfire in the Summerland area became active yesterday, resulting in Evacuation Orders in parts of Summerland and Peachland.
Last night, Vernon Fire Rescue deployed crews and equipment to Summerland to assist with the wildfire response. Those resources remain on the ground today in support of suppression efforts. All Vernon Fire Rescue stations remain fully staffed and prepared should conditions change.
