Roll into Spring GoByBike Week

The City of Vernon is inviting residents to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and explore the community during Spring GoByBike Week 2026, taking place May 30 to June 5.

GoByBike Week is a province-wide celebration of active transportation that encourages people to swap short vehicle trips for biking, scootering, skateboarding, rollerblading, or other small-wheeled transportation. Whether it’s commuting to work, riding to school, running errands, or enjoying a leisurely trip along Vernon’s trails and pathways, every ride helps build a healthier, more connected community.

With Vernon’s growing network of multi-use paths, bike lanes, and neighbourhood connections, GoByBike Week is a fun and easy way for residents of all ages and abilities to discover new routes, spend time outdoors, and experience the city from a different perspective.

Throughout the week, the City and community partners will host a variety of local events and activities, including:

GoByBike Week events in Vernon

  • Kick-Off Celebration at Polson Artisan Market and Community Ride
    Residents are invited to help launch the week at the Polson Artisan Market on May 29th. This market will be bike themed and have cycling information, activities, giveaways, and a family-friendly bike parade.
  • Social Bike Rides
    Starting during GoByBike Week and continuing throughout the summer, community members can sign up for social bike rides, led by an experienced guide and supported by the Youth Climate Corps of BC. Many of these rides feature the multi-use pathways, promote road safety and community building through cycling, in addition to subsidized e bike rentals.   • Celebration Stations
    Riders can stop by local celebration stations throughout the week for refreshments, cycling resources, bike support, and community connection while commuting or exploring the city.
  • Bike-Themed Community Activities
    Additional family-friendly activities, community challenges, and opportunities to support local businesses will take place throughout the week as residents are encouraged to experience Vernon by bike. Prizes will be available for participating individuals and businesses. Find a full schedule of the week's activities online.

Participants can register individually or as part of a team, log their rides throughout the week, and become eligible for local and provincial prizes through GoByBike BC.

Spring GoByBike Week supports the City’s ongoing efforts to encourage active transportation, create healthier communities, and make it easier for residents to choose sustainable ways to move around the city.
