Youth Climate Careers - apply today!
In collaboration with School District 22, the City is expanding the popular Climate Action Ripple Effect program in 2025. This initiative invites high school students to collaborate with teachers and local mentors to design and implement impactful climate action projects.
The City is also supporting Youth Climate Corps BC for five paid positions focused on environmental sustainability and climate action. These summer employment opportunities are available to youth aged 17-30, providing hands-on career experience in the growing fields of climate science and green technologies.

The climate is changing and there is an urgency and importance of climate change that requires us to lessen our impact on the environment by reducing emissions and prepare for the changes that are coming quickly.

Climate Action Plan
The City of Vernon is a signatory to the B.C. Climate Action Charter and our Climate Action Plan is aligned with the CleanBC Roadmap to 2030 and Canada’s 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan.
The City also participates in the new Local Government Climate Action Program, which provides funding for local governments and Modern Treaty Nations to plan and implement climate action that will reduce emissions, create new opportunities for people in the clean economy and prepare communities for future climate impacts.
