UPDATE: November 2, 2021.  Chapman Industries Ltd will begin construction on the multi-use path.  Construction will start at the Pleasant Valley Road end and will continue until winter. The initial stages of construction will also involve clearing of trees and shrubs in the road right of way.

The project will involve road realignment, construction of a 3 metre separated multi-use path (MUP) with associated ditching, new signalized cross walks, some new curb and gutter, and relocating catch basins and hydro poles. This includes the construction of Phase 1 and design of Phase 2. Phase 1 includes construction from BX Fire Hall to Blackcomb Way. Phase 2 would provide the final MUP connection between BX Fire Hall and Pleasant Valley Road, which would also tie into the 2020 Pleasant Valley Road MUP project (from Silver Star Road / 48th Avenue to BX Creek) and offsite works for the Silver Star Gateway Industrial Project. Phase 2 is dependent on budget approval and is expected to be completed in 2022.

The City has made an application to the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) for several locations where widening requires property purchase.  The timing of construction is dependent on ALC approval.  The City is expecting the approvals to be received in early summer.

The project is currently at the 60% design review phase and the City is working with ICBC to provide a Road Safety Audit so that consideration of the suggested safety comments can provide input into the design process.
