32nd Avenue and 38th Street Reconstruction

The project includes reconstruction of approximately 440metres of road, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main along 32^nd Avenue (37^th St – 3910 32^nd Ave) and 38^th Street (32^nd Ave – 30^th Ave). The project will also include upgrades to the sidewalks and incorporate new bike lanes.

A key consideration for this project is to address the drainage issues along 32^nd Avenue identified as a high priority through Drainage Infrastructure Prioritization Plan. The current drainage system is frequently overwhelmed and residents are experiencing flooding.

The project will result in the solution of the drainage problems, transportation safety improvements, and infrastructure renewal.

Update: August 30, 2023

The project has been awarded to Sun Ridge Contracting Ltd. Construction is estimated to begin in March 2024 with a target completion date of August 2024.

Update: June 6, 2023

The project is currently out for tender. Tender award is estimated for late June 2023, with an estimated start date in July 2023, assuming contractor availability.

The cross-section for 32nd Avenue has been recommended to change for this stretch of road to align with the City’s Master Transportation Plan and Climate Action Plan. A sidewalk was added to the south side of the road to provide a walking amenity due to the higher density in this area.  The multiuse pathway on the north side has been provided  with the goal to create a new connection for active transportation to eventually connect Bella Vista Road and Alexis Park Drive that will eventually connect to the new Active Living Centre.
