Vernon’s new Mayor and Councillors take oath of office

The City of Vernon's new Mayor and Councillors took the oath of office in the swearing-in ceremony Nov. 5 in Council Chambers at City Hall. This event marks the official start of their terms of office, which will run for four years.

Approximately 50 people attended the event, which featured bagpiper Maureen Soichuk leading a colour guard of two RCMP members in red serge followed by the newly-elected officials. An opening invocation and a closing benediction were presented by Lieutenant Tinisha Reid of the Salvation Army, and the actual oaths were administered by Justice Mark Takahashi.

Congratulations to Mayor Victor Cumming, Councillor Scott Anderson, Councillor Kelly Fehr, Councillor Kari Gares, Councillor Akbal Mund, Councillor Dalvir Nahal and Councillor Brian Quiring.
