Events:

  • Kick-off Pancake Breakfast and Car vs Bike Challenge: Monday, May 28, 6:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. at Cenotaph Park - New Transit Terminus, the  Car VS Bike Challenge 8:00 a.m. starts at Olympia Cycle and Ski ends at the Pancake Breakfast Station
  • Midweek Celebration Station: Wednesday, May 31 6:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. at Sun Country Cycle on Kal Lake Road
  • Wrap-up BBQ:  Friday, June 1, 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at Library/Museum Square

The North Okanagan,(City of Vernon, Regional District of North Okanagan)joins Kelowna, Kamloops and 23 other municipalities in the provincial Bike to Work Week (BTWW) campaign, May 28 to  June 3, 2012

“Bike to Work Week has shown to help business and workplaces improve their staff morale, help develop team work and increase fun where employees are happier, more productive and are gaining some great health benefits,” says Dr. Backus, president of BTW-BC Society.

  • Team Leaders are the key to a successful week and attend a fun BTW orientation workshop
  • The  workshop focuses on the new Bike Buddy Hotline program, tips on how to motivate your team members, suggested best routes to work and throughout Vernon, cycle safety tips and bike maintenance. A chance to network with other cyclists, have a free dinner courtesy of Domino’s Pizza and receive a Free T-shirt and Team prize package.  Please fill out the BTW Team Leader Workshop form and fax to 250-545-5309 or email: dsbreception@vernon.ca
  • For this year’s event, to participate, simply join your workplace team or form your own community team and register by visiting www.biketowork.ca/north-okanagan.
  •  A team can consist of your entire workplace, department or work group
2011 Results were
  •  “116 new cyclists participated in this year’s event, along with a 20% increase in number of Bike to Work Teams, that cycled a total of 1,155 trips and traveled 15% more kilometers (13,375 KMs) saving 10.6 tons of CO2  emissions!
