What is Spirit of BC?

Spirit of BC is a 2010 Legacies Now program in partnership with the Province of BC. It is a province-wide initiative that promotes community innovation, pride and excellence, and involves British Columbians in the opportunities arising from the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Vernon is one of the many BC communities who have set up a committee of volunteers to carry out appropriate initiatives for their community.
Spirit of BC Committee - Greater Vernon

In July 2008, the City of Vernon created a Council Advisory Committee for the Spirit of BC. Its purpose is to:
Leverage Olympic and Paralympic community opportunities pre and post the 2010 Olympic Games. The potential components focus in the area of sport, recreation, arts and culture, tourism, convention, trade, investment, procurement, human resources, literacy and volunteerism.
Activities

Spirit of BC - Greater Vernon has been involved in arts, literacy and sport initiatives. Our most significant task for 2009 is organizing the Olympic Torch Relay Celebration event which will take place on January 26, 2010 in Vernon. The Olympic Torch will be stopping in Vernon and everyone will be invited to welcome the torch to Vernon.
This will be a memorable day for everyone and we are working together with VANOC to plan and prepare for the day. More details will follow.
Want to get involved?

If you would like to help organize volunteers for tasks or events, we'd love to hear from you.
