Permits and Inspections

The Building and Inspection Section of Planning & Building Services deals primarily with the regulation and inspection of new construction and renovations, alterations, additions, and changes in occupancy of existing buildings. The legislative framework for regulation is contained in
Building and Plumbing Bylaw #4900 - 170Kb .

The mandate of this Section is to provide efficient, professional and cost effective permit review and inspection services to the citizens of Vernon.

Inspections - General
Inspection of work is required according to Building and Plumbing #4900. Inspections may be arranged by calling the 24 hour inspection request line at 250-550-3592 and leave the following:

• Civic address of property
• Permit number
• Owners name
• Type of inspection (i.e. footing, framing, etc)
• Date of inspection
• Contact number (preferably cell number)

It is important that 24 hours notice is required, and that inspections will be performed anytime during the requested day unless arrangements have been made with inspections staff.
