Okanagan Landing Road/25th Avenue Conceptual Planning
The
City of Vernon has begun the preparation of a concept plan for the
Okanagan Landing Boulevard, a new scenic parkway along Okanagan
Landing Road and 25th Avenue from Polson Park to Paddlewheel Park.
The conceptual plan will provide the basis for detailed design and
construction of the Boulevard. The Okanagan Landing Boulevard represents
a significant opportunity to create a feature destination route
that reconnects Downtown Vernon to Okanagan Lake.
Public Open House
A Public Open House was held on Thursday, June
12, 2003 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. The intent of the Public Open House
was to identify and define design elements appropriate for the Boulevard,
and solicit public input.
The exhibited story boards presented a street inventory and analysis, chronology of historic development, a review of perceived opportunities and constraints and examples of boulevard design possibilities, both for the street section and for special places along the boulevard.
Public input was received by conversation between the public, consultant, and City staff. Questionnaires were also completed by the public for consideration during concept development.
