Spring Chipping Program

Curbside collection of prunings will take place on the following dates:

City of Vernon and Foothills Subdivision:
Chipping ProgramWeek 1 - March 23-26 2010
Week 2 - March 30-April 02 2010

Blue Jay and Okanagan Landing:
Week 1 - April 06-09 2010
Week 2 -
April 13-15 2010

Please stack all prunings with butt ends facing street or lane.

  • Place prunings at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your garbage collection day
  • Place the prunings at the same location as your garbage
  • Do not combine prunings with your neighbour.
  • No large branches or tree trunks over 10 centimeters or 4 inches in diameter
  • Do not tie prunings with wire or string
  • No roots, dirt, or garbage in pile
  • Pile thorns separately
  • Missed piles not reported within 24 hrs will not be picked up

* As this program is funded by residential garbage customers, customers using bin service must make their own arrangements to dispose of prunings.

* 10 minutes maximum chipping per customer each week. Tangled piles or excessive volumes may result in material left behind. Property owners can hire a chipper or haul to the Greater Vernon Recycling and Disposal Facility.

The Greater Vernon Recycling and Disposal Facility is located south of Vernon, west of Hwy. 97. The disposal facility will be accepting residential yard waste free of charge from March 15 to April 30 2009. Visit their website for further information http://www.rdno.ca/services/swr/rdf.php
