2011 Retroactive Home Owner Grant Information

Have you missed the deadline to apply for the 2011 Home Owner Grant?

You can still make application for the 2011 home owner grant, but Home Owner Grant Administration in Victoria requires different documentation completed when application is made after January 1st each year.

Please find attached an application for a Retroactive Home Owner Grant for 2011. This application must be completed in full. Home Owner Grant Administration in Victoria requires additional documentation to support your residency as of December 31, 2011.

Original documentation must be provided to our office for the following:

  • Drivers License
  • B.C. Care Card
  • Three (3) bills covering the “SERVICE TIME PERIOD” of DECEMBER 31, 2011”.
       Examples of acceptable bills: House Insurance bills, Telus with stub attached, Cable TV bill, bank statement, employment or pension cheques.
  • Please Note: Victoria will NOT accept the City of Vernon bills, BC Hydro or Tersan gas
       ie: City of Vernon Utility bill or the City of Vernon Property Tax Notice are not acceptable.

Not sure of the service time period requirement?

Bring in your DECEMBER 2011 AND JANUARY 2012 bills and our staff will assist you to ensure the appropriate documents are received.

Please bring all documentation to City Hall at 3400 30 th Ave, Vernon, BC and we will forward copies of all documentation to Victoria on your behalf.

Once approval for the Grant is received from Home Owner Grant Administration in Victoria the following will happen:

  • If your Property Tax account is paid in full on the day your Retroactive Home Owner Grant application is finalized at our office, the City will instruct the Home Owner Grant Office in Victoria to forward any refundable amounts directly to you.
  • If your Property Tax account has an outstanding balance, Victoria will forward any funds directly to the City and the Property Tax Department will apply these funds to your Property Tax account.
